AC Pump Controller
The AeroVironment AC controller is a universal solar pump controller
designed to work with any AC motor from 0.5 to 5 HP. Pump controllers
feature an efficient microprocessor controller, a field adjustable
frequency control, fault detection and LCD display and come in a lockable
NEMA 3R enclosure. AeroVironment controllers can be used with any
3-phase and single phase 3-wire motor. These controllers require 210-385VDC
and 15-23 PV modules in series. Wattage will vary according to pumping
requirements. |

Linear
Current Boosters
Linear Current Boosters (LCBs) greatly improve the performance of
pumps, fans and similar motorized loads that are operated directly
on a solar array, by matching the peak power of the solar array to
the current and voltage requirements of the loaded motor. In a well-matched
system, on a sunny day, up to 40% increase in daily water delivery
can be expected. On mismatched systems or in cloudy weather, there
will be a much greater increase in performance. The PV array should
be sized so that in full sun the motor can be driven to full voltage
without the LCB. Any time the sun is not at full brightness, the LCB
will improve the power transfer efficiency to the motor. The result
will be much earlier startup in the morning and longer running time
in the evening. Positive displacement pumps will deliver water at
a reduced rate with the LCB at times that they would not start at
all without it. Use an LCB with a current rating greater than the
solar module or array being used. All include a float switch input
circuit for on/off control, output fuse and transient protection on
the input and output. Ultra-high efficiency >94%. |
