Dankoff SunRise Solar Submersible Pumps
The
SunRise submersible pump allows you to pump water from wells as deep
as 600 feet (200m) using electricity from the sun. Pumps supply as
much as 3000 gallons (11,000 ltrs) per day. The pumps have a simple
and reliable design. No batteries required. It runs efficiently in
low sunlight and provides a high tolerance to sand and running dry.
SunRise pumps fit a wide range of needs: deep wells, surface water,
long pipelines, pressurizing and portable applications. These sturdy
pumps feature all metal construction and a 4-8 year maintenance interval.
SunRise represents a breakthrough in deep well solar pumping. Its
patented sealed piston mechanism uses less than 300 watts of power
(1/3 HP) requiring a smaller, less costly array. (Most solar pumps
use centrifugal impellers, requiring much more power.) The piston
mechanism allows the pump to work at low speeds when sunlight is weak.
It is much more reliable and long lasting than cheaper diaphragm-type
submersibles. The SunRise pump controller includes a remote float
switch circuit to prevent storage tank overflow. For full rated performance
of a non-battery system, an array of four modules (48 volts nominal)
is required. The total rated power of the array must exceed the watts
indicated on the chart by 15% or more. Further oversizing will increase
water flow during low sun conditions. A solar tracker will increase
daily yield by about 15% average in winter, 40% in summer. For battery
system, subtract 15% from flow and from watts (due to power working
voltage) and a conventional battery charge controller is required.
If batteries are 12 or 24 volt, a SC1B Controller is required. A battery
system may be used for on-demand pressurizing. Use a pressure tank
instead of storage tank and for every 1 PSI pressure add 2.3 feet
vertical lift. The Sunrise needs a 3 conductor cable to meet NEC Code.
(The pump has a metal housing that needs to be grounded.) Splice kit
will accept both a #10 and #8 cable. Performance may vary +/-10%.
2-year warranty.
Pipe selection:
For hand installation, use flexible polyethylene (PE) pipe. This pipe
dampens pressure pulsation so damping line is not required. Hand installation
requires a minimum 1 strong person per 100 feet (30m) of drop. For
total lift <150 feet (46m): Use 3/4” 100 PSI type SIDR15
pipe (commonly available locally). For total lift >150 feet: Use
3/4” 200 PSI type SDR9 pipe with bronze compression adapters.
(Two SDR9 Compression Adapters, SDR9 to 3/4” MPT, with inserts
are required and one SDR9 compression coupling for extension or repair
of SDR9 pipe with inserts.)
For machine installation, use conventional PVC drop pipe plus 50 feet
of dampening line with 3/4” threaded ends (required to reduce
pressure pulsation). For total lift <150 feet, use DL50L damping
line, and for total lift >150 feet, use DL50 damping line. |
